Fast, professional fault diagnosis and repair — all makes and models, 7 days a week across Northamptonshire.
Recognise your fault? Book a repair call and our engineer will diagnose and fix it — most common faults are resolved within the first hour.
If your unit shows no error codes and appears completely dead, first check the electrical isolator beside your outdoor unit and your main fuse board. If both are fine, you need an engineer — an electrical fault is almost always traced and fixed within the first hour.
Usually fixed within 1 hour
If your unit runs but doesn't cool on any setting, the most likely cause is a refrigerant gas leak. Our engineer will inspect the pipework, indoor and outdoor units, repair any leak, remove air and moisture from the system, and recharge with the correct refrigerant.
Same day in most cases
The most common repair call we get. Water dripping from an indoor unit is almost always a failed condensate pump, a serviceable part that our engineers carry as stock. In the majority of cases this is diagnosed and fixed within the first hour of the visit.
Usually fixed within 1 hour
If your unit runs on heat mode but the room temperature doesn't rise, or heat mode isn't functioning at all, a refrigerant gas leak is the most common cause — the same as a cooling fault. Our engineer will locate and repair the leak before recharging the system.
Same day in most cases
A unit that's louder than usual, rattling, grinding, or humming, typically indicates a failing fan motor or condensate pump. Get it looked at quickly: early diagnosis prevents what's often a minor part replacement from becoming a major system failure.
Diagnosed same day
A musty or unpleasant smell when your AC runs is caused by bacteria building up on the cooling coils. As the system removes moisture from the air, bacteria accumulate and can only be effectively removed with specialist cleaning chemicals, a job for a qualified engineer.
Cleared in a single visitWhen your air conditioning or heat pump fails, you need it fixed fast, with minimum disruption, at a fair price. THS engineers are available 7 days a week across Northampton and Northamptonshire, and carry the most common parts as standard so we're not leaving you waiting on an order.
Our senior repair engineers have over 20+ years of experience in technical fault finding, including the most troublesome and obscure faults on older systems. A vast majority of our repair work comes from word of mouth recommendations, because we fix things properly the first time.
Importantly, we repair units we haven't installed. If your current engineer isn't available, or you've moved into a property with an existing system, call us, we'll diagnose and fix it regardless of make, model or who fitted it.
We repair air conditioning and heat pump systems from all major manufacturers — if we didn't install it, we'll still fix it.
Don't see your brand? Call us — if it's an air conditioning or heat pump system, we'll most likely be able to help.
Call us or submit the form. We'll take basic details about the fault and book an engineer visit — 7 days a week, including evenings where needed for commercial premises.
Our engineer arrives, runs a full diagnostic on the system, and tells you exactly what the fault is and what's needed to fix it. No jargon, clear, plain English explanation.
If we carry the part, we fix it on the spot. If parts need ordering, we provide a written quote on-site with no obligation, and return to complete the repair once parts arrive.
Once repaired, we run the system through its full range to confirm it's working correctly. We'll also advise on servicing to prevent a repeat, and whether the unit is worth continuing to repair.
We'll always give you our honest opinion on this. If a repair costs more than 50% of a new unit, or if the system is old enough that further faults are likely, we'll tell you, and we can quote for a replacement on the same visit.
On the other hand, we regularly repair units that owners assumed were beyond saving. A well maintained system can run well beyond its expected lifespan, and a timely repair is always cheaper than an emergency replacement. Our engineers have 30 years of experience making this call — and they won't push you toward a replacement if a repair is the right answer.
Signs repair is the right choice:
The most common faults, condensate pump failure, refrigerant loss, dirty coils causing bad smells, are all caught and addressed during a routine annual service. A service costs a fraction of a repair call, and extends your unit's lifespan significantly. If your system hasn't been serviced recently, ask us about a service plan when we attend your repair.
